The Netherlands (83%) narrowly beat Iceland (82%) and Canada (80%) as the best place in the world to be gay and lesbian according to a Gallup poll in 123 countries. Â On average nearly 3 in 10 say their areas are good for gay and lesbians which shows there is still a lot of work to be done in raising awareness and fight for equality, especially in Africa. Â There is also those countries where it is considered too sensitive to ask the question “Is the city or area where you live a good place or not a good place to live for gay or lesbian people. Â The countries in question are:Â Egypt, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Iran, Nigeria, Bahrain, Bhutan, Iraq, Kuwait, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, United Arab Emirates, Uzbekistan, and Yemen.
