It was an exciting moment to say the least when it was finally announced yesterday that Iceland got on to the finals in the Eurovision Song Contest, which takes place in Dusseldorf this Saturday.
Ten countries out of nineteen from the first semi-final got on and Iceland landed the last spot, with the song “Coming Home” performed by Sjonni’s Friends. Until now the song has not been considered a strong contender so the results came as a surprise to many including the Icelandic presenter, who said, frivolous with joy: “I must say, I wasn’t expecting this!”
