Concert with a cause

It was truly moving and a privilege to have been at the fundraising concert for the LGBT community in Uganda held in Harpa Concert Hall in Reykjavik on Thursday March the 6th.  The Icelandic National Queer Organization and Amnesty International in Iceland organized the event in order to raise awareness on the legalized human rights abuse in the country and to raise funds for grass-root queer organizations in Uganda. It was an amazing evening with artists Reykjavik Queer Choir, Sigga Beinteins & Stjórnin, Páll Óskar, Sykur and Retro Stefson who all gave an electrifying performance, engaging the crowd.  Hosts were the wonderful Bjarni Snæbjörnsson and Sigríður Eyrún Friðriksdóttir and Felix Bergsson addressed the crowd on the issue of human rights.  At the end of the evening Angel Buns P’ojara from Uganda but currently living in Iceland thanked all the artists for their work, the organizers and the audience for showing support for gays in Uganda.
