Have you been waiting for a chance to put your lederhosen or dirndl dress on? Well, now might actually be the opportunity. You see later today the Oktoberfest starts with all its beer drinking, singing, slap dancing and all kinds of entertainment – they even have a show about the history of beer and exotic circus acts planned for this evening.
Hello, of course we’re not talking about the one in Munich but Iceland’s own rendition of that beloved German tradition. And if you think the Germans can party, wait till you get a hold of Icelanders in action.
What you need to know is that The Oktoberfest is held in Laugardalur, Valbjarnarvöllur, which is often refered to as the Triangle (i. Þríhyringur). It’s in a big tent which is pretty hard to miss unless you have the eyesight of a bat. It starts today at 16.00 and around the same time tomorrow.
The show tonight is from 18.00 – 21.00. Admission is 3.000 ISK. Otherwise there is no entrance fee. The beer only costs about 700 ISK, which is fairly cheep or better yet, there’s even a special beer-card which allows you to get five beers for 3.000 ISK. Hurray! More info here.
