Extremely positive reviews on IGLA 2012, The International Gay and Lesbian Aquatics held in Reykjavik in June/May, have been pouring in the media worldwide in recent days.
All in all around 500 gay men and lesbians mostly from abroad took part in the event. Participants and visitors alike are sharing their thoughts on the global water-sports championships which seem to have been a roaring success amongst the majority of guests.
Gays.com´s social media manager Calvin Holbrook maybe describes the buzz best by saying: “…never before have I felt so happy to have been so welcomed into such a united community.”
With a well-organized schedule consisting not only of the championships itself but also a packed social calendar with a mixed bag of everything from whale watching, a trip to the Blue Lagoon, a beach party, a grand ball to some wild night life amongst others things it’s maybe not difficult to understand the overall sense of joy and happiness.
We here at GayIceland.is would like to congratulate the organizers; gay sports club Styrmir, The Icelandic Swimming Association and queer travel agency Pink Iceland with the help of the Ministry of Education and the City of Reykjavik, for a job well done.
