It’s safe to say that the atmosphere at the premiere of VIVA! at Bíó Paradís last week was electric, colorful and everything in between. The premiere was in collaboration with GayIceland and it’s safe to say that the movie really made an impact on moviegoers that night.
VIVA! centers around a young gay man who dreams of becoming a drag queen so it was fitting that the Icelandic drag group Drag-Súgur played a big part at the premiere. It’s members met and greeted the guests while they enjoyed authentic Cuban music and drinks before the screening. In fact, the whole theme of the premiere was Cuban since VIVA! takes place in Havana, Cuba.
Before the guests got to enjoy VIVA!, which has been praised by critics and nominated for several awards, they got to see an interview with the lead actor in the movie (specially recorded for the occasion) which the audience enjoyed, to say the least. And when the closing credits had run their course and the lights were switched on there wasn’t a dry eye in the movie theater.
