“You can say that this is a kind of winter pride for people what want a little boost in the winter darkness”
This is going to be a huge festival and we’ve had great support everywhere, which is fantastic. You can say that this is a kind of winter pride for people what want a little boost in the winter darkness,” says Hannes Páll Pálsson, at LGBT travel and event specialist Pink Iceland, about the great response the company’s festival Reykjavík Rainbow is getting.
Rainbow Reykjavik was held for the first time last year attracting people from all over the world. This year sees an unbelievable 40 percent increase in number of guests who have signed up to experience everything from nature trips to wild partying. For many the high light will without doubt be a special Eurovision Concert where may of Iceland’s celebrities, such as Friðrik Ómar and Hera Björk will take the stage.
Participants can choose between two kind of programs. There is a main program which will be held from the 31st of January untill the 3rd of February. Then there is a special extended program which starts before, that is 29-30 January, and runs after 3-5 February. Finally there is of course the possibility to take part in certain events instead of the whole festival.
