[dropcap4]A[/dropcap4] new book about the relationship between former Prime Minister Jóhanna Sigurðardóttir and her wife, author and journalist Jónína Leósdóttir will be published next month. The book is simply titled Jóhanna and is written by Jónína.
Jóhanna’s and Jónína’s relationship got worldwide attention when Jóhanna became Iceland’s first female Prime Minister and the world’s first openly lesbian head of government on 1 February 2009. However the pair has never wanted to officially discuss it

– that is untill now with the publication of the new book. “We’ve always tried to keep our persona life private,” Jónína says in an interview on news website Vísir.is. “But now we felt it was time to make our story public.”
According to the publisher, Mál and menning, the book is a unusual story of love and conflict that will shed new light on Jóhanna’s and Jónína’s relationship, which spans almost three decades. The epilogue of the book is written by Jóhanna herself.
