Chances are high that the worldOutgames will be held in Reykjavík in 2017. The website Gay Star News claimed to have a reliable source that Rome and Rio de Janeiro were now out of the picture, leaving the choice between Reykjavík and Miami Beach in Florida. The openly gay Prime Minister of Belgium has now confirmed this in a press conference today.
The worldOutgames, often called the LGBT Olympics, have taken place two times before. They were last held in Copenhagen in the sumer 2009 and next year they’ll be held in Antwerp. It is estimated that around 5.000 athletes from all over the world competed in Copenhagen in thirty different sports.
The games are sponsored by the Gay and Lesbian International Sport Association (GLISA).
