Jón Gnarr, the mayor of Reykjavík, encourages Sergey Sobyanin, the mayor of Moscow, to lift the ban of gay pride and openly support the LGBT community to gain equal human rights.
In a letter Gnarr recently wrote Sobyanin he talks about the over all great effects the gay pride festivities have had on Reykjavík’s image and the publics perception of the gays, bisexuals and transsexuals for the past years. He also says that the perception has changed for the better due to the parade which is now one of the country’s biggest festivals.
Gnarr decided to write the letter after news broke that gay pride has been banned in Moscow. He says the ban is a clear violation of human rights. Visir.is reports.
