Lady Gaga accepted the Lennon Ono Peace Grant at Harpa music hall only two hours ago. Yoko Ono, the widow of John Lennon, and Jón Gnarr, the mayor of Reykjavik, delivered the award to a very humble and grateful Gaga.
Yoko Ono used the oppertunity and said the singer has used her fame to raise public awareness of important issues, such as Aids and various body images to good effect. In her acceptance speech Gaga said that the grant will go to young people diognosed with Aids. She also commented on Gnarr’s speech, which revolved on LGBT rights amongst other things, saying it was very moving and wished that there were more mayors like him in the world.
