LÓKAL – International Theatre Festival Reykjavík will take place for the fourth time in the capital between the first and fourth of September. As usual guests will get a unique opportunity to attend as many as thirteen cutting edge staged events, both Icelandic and from abroad in a four days run.
What really caught our attention this time around is gay themed mocumentary-play I heart Alice heart I. It tells the story of two very strong opinionated elderly women who have lived together in Dublin for twenty years and decide to reveal their relationship for the first time in front of a live audience. The play was written and directed by Amy Conroy and developed with Clara Barrett and was first shown at the Dublin Fringe Festival in 2010. Since then the play has been getting excellent reviews, the critic for Irish Daily Mail calling it a “humourous and touching tale”, “heart-warming and hilarious” and “sweet, uplifting play”.
Of course I heart Alice heart I is only one of many exciting events in the upcoming festival. We recommend that you go the official website for further information about the program. Have a great time!
