Upcoming Icelandic filmmaker Björn Flóki Björnsson is currently working on a new documentary called Drag Dad, as newspaper Morgunblaðið reports today. The film will examine the life of one James William Ross IV who became known in the States as drag queen performer Tracy Sanchez after winning popular reality TV show RuPaul´s Drag Race back in 2010. Björnsson however intends to focus more on Ross´s life outside the spot light and his relationship to six-year-old son Jeremiah which he fathered only seventeen of age.
According to Björnsson one of the ideas behind Drag Dad is to show that parenting skills don’t vary depending on sexual orientation. He also intends to bring into question Ross’s different lifestyles and his son´s acceptance of them. Drag Dad is Björnsson’s final project from The New School in New York. Financing of the film has gone underway but further founding is needed to complete the project. Those who wish to donate can visit webpage http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/bjornfloki/drag-dad.
