As Iceland settles into the long, bright days of summer, June brings a wealth of opportunities to celebrate, connect, and have fun.
June is one of the most beautiful months in Iceland. The days seem to stretch on forever, darkness barely makes an appearance, and the whole country begins to emerge after a long winter. While Iceland’s biggest LGBTQIA+ celebration, Reykjavík Pride (Hinsegin dagar), doesn’t arrive until August, June offers plenty of opportunities to connect with the community, support local performers, and make the most of the summer season.
This month’s calendar is particularly rich in drag, with everything from weekly shows hosted by Kiki’s resident queen Faye Knús to Heart Attack’s showcase of emerging drag talent, a special appearance by RuPaul’s Drag Race star Tina Burner, and a Céline Dion tribute night promising enough power ballads to shake the walls of Reykjavík’s favourite queer bar. Later in the month, Drag Bröns returns to Silfurtunglið, combining brunch, glamour and some of Iceland’s fiercest performers for an afternoon of drag-filled indulgence.
Beyond the stage, June also highlights the diversity of Iceland’s queer community. There are regular gatherings for asexual and aromantic people, queer-focused recovery meetings, events for the bear community, and opportunities to meet new people in welcoming and supportive spaces. One of the month’s standout events takes place in North Iceland, where Hinsegin Hrísey returns for a weekend of celebration, visibility and community spirit on one of the country’s most picturesque islands.

Kikioke – Karaoke at Kiki!

Every Thursday people from all over descend on Iceland’s premier queer bar to share the joys of their vocal talents. The karaoke typically kicks off around 10pm and goes till late so do your warm ups and make your song selections.
Faye Knús Friday Drag Show at Kiki

Kiki’s resident drag queen AKA “the hardest working woman in show business,” Faye Knús (body of a dancer, voice of your father) hosts an evening of drag, comedy, mid-life crisis and acts that cannot be unseen. It’s the perfect way to start your evening and the rest of your life.
Heart Attack: Cherry Pop! Drag at Kiki!

Heart Attack is a monthly drag show, hosted by the drag family House of Heart! This extravagant group of performers brings you a different show each month, filled with music, dance and laughter. This is one of the best ways to experience and support local drag so mark it in your calendars and bring a few bills to tip your kings and queens.

Tina Burner had already become one of the best known queens on the New York drag scene long before she competed on RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 13 in 2021, and later returned for All Stars 10 in 2025. Tina is an experienced singing and comedy queen, winner of National Miss Comedy Queen, and known for her sharp humour, powerful stage presence and larger than life personality.

Ace & Aro Iceland is an interest and activism association for asexual and aromantic people in Iceland as well as all the subgroups. The purpose of the association is that everyone under the ace umbrella will become recognized and enjoy full rights in Icelandic society. The association intends to achieve its goals by increasing visibility through education and collaborating with similar organizations, groups, and enthusiasts in Iceland and abroad that aim for the same goals.
This is a stress free cosy event intended to welcome all those interested. There are no age restrictions.
Grill-zzly International Pride Month BBQ

Kick off Pride Month with good food, great company, and a relaxed afternoon outdoors at Bangsafélagið’s annual International Pride Month BBQ. Taking place in Reykjavík’s Laugardalur park, the event brings together members of Iceland’s bear community and friends for an informal celebration of Pride.
The organisers will be firing up the grill and serving hot dogs, with beer and non-alcoholic refreshments available. Guests are encouraged to bring friends, partners, and allies, making this a welcoming and social gathering for both regular members and newcomers alike.
The BBQ will be held near the Laugardalur swimming pools and offers a perfect opportunity to meet members of the community, enjoy the summer weather, and start Pride season in a laid-back and friendly atmosphere. Membership fees can also be paid on-site for those interested in joining Bangsafélagið.

Hinsegin Hrísey (Hrísey Pride)

One of Iceland’s most charming Pride celebrations returns to the picturesque island of Hrísey this June. Now in its third year, Hinsegin Hrísey combines community, celebration, and small-town hospitality for a uniquely Icelandic Pride experience.
The weekend kicks off on Friday evening with a lively Music Bingo hosted by Fanney. Saturday’s festivities begin with a Rainbow Service at Hrísey Church, followed by a colourful Pride Parade around the island. The celebrations continue with live music, drag performances, family-friendly activities, friendship bracelet making, and a children’s pool disco.
Performers this year include musician George Maurer, queer ukulele group Ukulellur, and a variety of drag and cabaret artists. The weekend culminates with an evening concert and cabaret show at Sæborg, bringing plenty of glamour, laughter, and Pride spirit to this tiny island community.
Part of the wider North Iceland Pride celebrations, Hinsegin Hrísey has quickly become a beloved annual event, promoting LGBTQIA+ visibility while showcasing the warmth and inclusivity of one of Iceland’s most unique communities.

Iceland’s drag queens are bringing the glamour back to Silfurtunglið this summer for an afternoon of fabulous entertainment, fierce performances, and delicious brunch. Expect glitter in the air, sky-high heels, and enough charisma to brighten even the cloudiest Reykjavík day.
The event combines a full drag show with a brunch service, featuring crispy chicken and waffles with maple syrup, crunchy coleslaw and dressing, with both vegan and non-vegan options available. Guests are encouraged to bring friends, partners, exes, crushes, grandparents, or simply themselves for an afternoon celebrating drag, joy, and self-love.
The show runs for approximately two hours, with breaks to relax, socialise, and take in the spectacle. Performed primarily in English, Drag Bröns has become a popular choice for birthday celebrations, hen and stag parties, and anyone looking to experience some of Iceland’s most entertaining drag talent in a welcoming and accessible setting.
