August is here, and with Reykjavík Pride taking over the capital, Iceland’s LGBTQIA+ calendar is looking especially packed. The official Reykjavík Pride programme brings together a huge range of celebrations, performances, talks and community events, and you can find the full programme [here].
But Pride in Iceland extends well beyond the official schedule. Queer venues, performers, organisations and community groups are hosting plenty of events of their own, from punk gigs and drag brunches to karaoke, parties, guided tours and quieter spaces to connect.
The events below are not part of the official Reykjavík Pride programme, but they offer even more ways to celebrate, meet people and experience LGBTQIA+ life in Iceland throughout August.
