What’s on in June in LGBTQIA+ Iceland?

While Iceland saves its main Pride celebrations for August, June is still packed with queer magic; and this year, it’s giving art, community, and plenty of opportunities to turn a look.

From voguing workshops and Ballroom panels to comedy, lesbian quizzes, and karaoke chaos at Kiki, the month is bursting with events that celebrate LGBTQ+ life in all its messy, joyful, expressive glory. Whether you’re dipping a toe or diving headfirst, there’s something for every kind of queer. Mark your calendars, June is serving!

Family Portrait: Stories Behind Glitter and Blood

When: Tuesday June 3

Time: 12:00 – 17:30

Where: Núllið Gallery Þingholtsstræti 1, 101 RVK

Cost: Free

Family Portrait is a powerful photography exhibition capturing the lives of drag performers, burlesque artists, and queer creatives living in Iceland. These are stories of survival—of people who have faced homophobia, exclusion, and violence—and instead of fading, chose to shine.

The project is created by Magdalena Łukasiak, a Polish documentary photographer who fled her home country in 2017 to live freely as a lesbian. In Iceland, she found a new home and began documenting Reykjavík’s vibrant queer community.

The exhibition features not only dazzling stage portraits but also intimate behind-the-scenes moments—laughter, tenderness, transformation, connection. It’s a portrait of a chosen family: one that doesn’t shame or exclude, but loves boldly, beautifully, and unconditionally.

Together we will finally illuminate the beauty and mystique of the world’s number one queer “dating” app, Grindr.
