What’s on in April in LGBTQIA+ Iceland?

April in LGBTQ+ Iceland is all about bold expression, fresh energy, and community in full bloom. As Reykjavík starts to shake off the frost, the queer scene comes alive with electric drag shows, thoughtful meetups, and dance floors pulsing with possibility. This month, it’s not just the daylight that’s stretching; it’s creativity, visibility, and connection too.

Whether you’re testing out a new performance at Art School, laughing till you cry at Drag Stand-Up, or finding friendship over tea and conversation, April offers space to be loud, soft, silly, political, or all of the above. So dust off your best spring lewks, gather your chosen family, and dive into the vibrant, evolving world of queer Iceland. The stage is set, come as you are.

Queer rights in the United States are facing an unprecedented backlash. The current administration has launched targeted attacks on queer communities, particularly trans individuals, through harmful legislation, rhetoric, and the erosion of fundamental human rights protections.
Samtökin ’78 invites queer Americans living in Iceland to an open discussion where we will share our efforts so far, present upcoming actions, and create a space for dialogue and suggestions. We want to hear your perspective on how these developments impact you and what you feel Samtökin ’78 should do in response. Everyone is welcome to participate and contribute their ideas, experiences, and questions.
